The DTX 15' Classic 10 wt. is a great big river rod with the power to send line out there, yet remain light in the hand and on the swing. It's certainly a 'fish all day' kind of rod. This rod has become my main Grand River stick so I've had a lot of fishing time with these lines. Like it's smaller brothers, this rod has a very broad fishing range, both in terms of distance and the lines it will handle. The light feel is great for low fatigue fishing, but it can fool people into thinking a line isn't right for the rod. As has been mentioned elsewhere here, look at what the line is doing. If it's flying out there with minimum effort, then it's right for the rod. The light feel is a bonus, but if you want to load up the rod to increase the feel, well the rod can handle that too.

The following tables list all of the lines that will work well on the rod, with any caveats or adjustments noted. Some of the lines are outside of its weight range yet still work well. See the Fishing Notes for how I like to work with this rod.

Important: I have only recommended lines that I have actually cast and fished. If your line isn't here, yet it resembles one that is, chances are your line will work just fine. I will add more lines as I accumulate them.

Original DTX 58' - 9/10 wt.	Up till now this one has been my primary tips line for the 15 footer. Loads the rod deeply and can reach some significant distance. It also works the short game very well. I often start with little more than the sinktip out of the guides. The feel of this line is not heavy, but the load feel is definitely there so I think it would be a good choice for those who like to little bit more feedback. Good all-round fishing choice and handles the blustery conditions really well.	On the heavy side, but would fish OK. Don't try to cast this line with the black sleeve up in the guides. If the line feels awkward or heavy, pull some line in. Cast with a slow, open stroke.
Original DTX 68' - 10/11 wt.	Took me a little while to get in the groove with this line as I was pushing it unnecessarily. Once I eased off, it really put a smile on my face. Like the 58' line, it loads deeply with a definite feel. I haven't put tips on this line, preferring to add 10' polyleaders.
DTX G2 64' - 10/11 wt.	This has become my new favourite - the 58' and 68' have been relegated to carrying a clipboard. Deep load, definite feel and great distance even into the teeth of a wind. The line has a colour change around 60' and this mark should be hung at the tip top, or even farther out. Casts like a big, powerful Delta, only farther.

DTX G2 Floating - 38g - 11m	This shooting head combined with a polyleader works very nicely as long as the polyleader isn't too heavy. This head is at the light end of the rod's range so, though it'll go a long way, it'll suffer when asked to carry too much. I'd go up a couple of grams for a more general purpose head.

Delta Spey 9/10	This is a light line for the rod, but when cast with an efficient, compact power stroke, it'll do the job very well. Underhand casters will like this combo.
Delta Spey 10/11	For more general purpose fishing, the 10/11 works better than the 9/10, but there isn't a great deal of difference in feel between the lines. Both feel quite light and crisp to cast. Best results come with a few feet of overhang.

Carron 75' - 9/10	This Carron was tried at the Salmon River clave, not fished, but we did spend enough time with it to get a consensus opinion on its match for the rod. Whether the colour change was at the top hand or up the guides, the line worked really well, with a light, yet definite load feel and tight loops. Very good distance and ease of casting.
Carron 85' - 10/11	I've fished this line a fair bit and it took a while to settle in as it was fussy with the colour change high up in the guides despite this being the recommendation on how to cast it. That may work well from a casting platform or a river bank, but when one is arse deep, the colour change has to be at the top hand. I've had others try it and we're all of the same opinion. Keep the colour change low and it'll work great.

Bill Drury Impact 9/10 - 62'	A good match with a light, crisp feel and good distance. A nice all-round line for the rod.

Hardy Mach 55 10 wt.	At the light end of the range for the rod, yet it went quite well. A nice, light 'fish all day' line when casting small to medium flies. I'd go with the 11 wt. though for more heavy duty usage.

Ian Gordon 11/12 Short Head 65' intermediate	While listed as an 11/12, its weight is right in the same range as most 10/11s of this length. Excellent line for the rod and a great fishing tool when the water is really cold. the swing slows way down, allowing lethargic fish a decent shot at the fly. Casts well with the back end pulled in so it's possible to fish it without rolling it up first.
